Amazon and Iberdrola sign PPA pact
Tech giant Amazon has signed a deal with Iberdrola to collaborate on the development of wind and solar projects by backing them with power purchase agreements.
The first projects covered by the agreement are Iberdrola's 476MW Baltic Eagle and 300MW Windanker offshore wind projects in the German section of the Baltic Sea, from which Amazon will receive 1.1TWh of electricity annually. The projects are due to complete in 2026.
The broader agreement is set to cover projects in Europe, the US and Asia-Pacific. Iberdrola will also use Amazon Web Services for cloud computing services that will support smarter grids and more renewables capacity globally.
