Canadian province to procure 739MW of storage

Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) has confirmed it will  procure seven new energy storage projects with a total capacity of just over 739MW. 

The projects vary in size from 5MW to 300MW. The majority of the selected projects have partnered with Indigenous communities, with five of the seven having “at least 50 per cent economic interest” from such communities. 

Boralex was the leading awardee, having two storage projects, totaling 380 MW of nameplate capacity.
