China's Sinopec completes solar-and-hydrogen pilot

Chinese chemicals giant Sinopec has completed construction at its solar-and-hydrogen production facility in Kuqa in China's Xinjiang region,

The project uses solar power to produce 20,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, which will be supplied to Sinopec's local unit Tahe Refining & Chemical for use in oil refining. The green hydrogen is set to replace hydrogen made from natural gas and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 485,000 tonnes a year.
