EWEA 2011: industry collaboration?

This week is a set to be a busy one for the European wind energy community – as over ten thousand conference delegates descend on Brussels for EWEA.

Individually, each of the delegates will have their own agenda and plans for the conference. And while there will undoubtedly be a chance to relax (gala dinner on Wednesday anyone?), the focus for many will be on networking, listening, learning and with any luck, winning deals.

But this week, individual success and achievement isn’t the end goal. And while for many the value of the next four days will be judged on the volume of sales leads and bulging contact books, that’s in danger of missing the point.

In fact, the real challenge for the conference is a little bigger. The real challenge is about industry collaboration.

It’s about working together and about building not just a series of successful companies but rather, about building a successful community. It’s only then that we can truly become more than the sum of our parts.
