Itochu sets up fund for $2bn North American drive

Japan's Itochu Corporation has set up a fund called Overland Capital Partners to invest in renewables assets in North America.

The company is working on the fund with Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, and has secured initial backing from investors including Fuyo General Lease Co. and Tokyo Land Corporation. Itochu is looking to back a $2bn renewable project through the fund.

Overland Capital Partners will be managed by Tyr Energy, which has developed eight wind and solar projects in the US.
