Juwi develops 400MW for South African mines

Juwi Renewable Energies is developing 400MW of wind and solar projects in South Africa to provide power for mining operations.

The company announced its upcoming development pipeline following the financial close of the 89MW Castle Wind project, which is set to provide electricity to support Sibanye-Stillwater's mining operations in South Africa.

Richard Doyle, managing director at Juwi SA, said: “We’re seeing a wave of formal requests for renewable energy projects from South African mines, largely driven by the energy crisis, commercial considerations and decarbonisation targets."
