MGE to acquire 46.5MW of solar and storage

Madison Gas and Electric (MGE), in partnership with We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service (WPS), subsidiaries of WEC Energy Group, has received approval from the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to purchase 30MW of solar energy and 16.5MW of battery storage from the Koshkonong Solar Energy Center.

The solar and storage is located in the towns of Christiana and Deerfield in Dane County, Wisconsin.

When the Koshkonong Solar Energy Center enters operation in 2025, it will include a 300MW solar array and a 165MW battery storage system. It is expected to generate enough clean energy to power about 90,000 households, with MGE's share of the output sufficient to power about 9,000 households.
