Spanish government offers €280m for storage projects

The Spanish Government has made €280 million in funding available for new energy storage projects.

The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) said that €180 million would be available for thermal storage, with €100 million available for pumped hydro storage.

The funding will be made available via a competitive tender - applications can be made here.

MITECO said the subsidies were aimed at turning storage into an “essential pillar” of the energy transition.
