US judge rejects whale deaths case

A judge in US state Massachusetts has rejected a case against the developers of the Vineyard Wind 1 offshore wind farm over the project's alleged impacts on whales.

The District Court has ruled that the developers Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Avangrid Renewables; the US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management; and the National Marine Fisheries Service have fully complied with a robust environmental review process at their project, including taking steps to protect endangered whales.

The court is due to rule on two further challenges to the Vineyard Wind 1 development in the coming weeks.
