Mr. Algar has more than twelve years of experience within the renewable energy sector, including wind and solar PV. As a Director within the Advisory Team, Mr. Algar is responsible for UL's renewable energy advisory services, including energy resource, due diligence, technical advisory, independent engineering, lenders technical advisory, asset advisory and monitoring in Europe and Latin America. He is currently leading a team of 80+ advisory professionals in wind, solar and energy storage projects. Previously, he managed the independent engineering efforts for both wind and solar in support of project finance for new project development and acquisition. Prior to joining UL, Mr. Algar was in charge of full project development in solar PV projects across Spain, Italy and SouthAmerica, leading site selection, the permitting process, negotiation of PPAs,EPC and O&M contracts at Abantia, a Spanish integrated EPC company. Mr. Algar holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master of Science inIndustrial/Mechanical Engineering from the Superior Technical EngineeringSchool of Barcelona and also a Master’s degree in Construction Engineering andManagement from the Illinois Institute of Technology of Chicago. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and Catalan.
